I think I have all my white down now. I feel that I don't have enough black showing, but I have read that green and yellow need white behind them or they don't look right. I guess I will find out when I start adding colour to it.
This should be quite dramatic when its done Paulette. Different papers react differently to colour layers and often a layer of white helps give the colour some vividness.
Hi Paulette, I love this drawing! In my humble opinion, I would say that you have the right amount of white applied to do the job.
You have probably already tried this, but if not here goes...when I am working on black paper and I am uncertain how a colour will show up, I test it first on a scrap piece of paper. If it isn't showing up too well, then I put down a bit of a light colour such as cream, peach or white and then cover that with the desired colour to see if that helps.
I think you are off to a terrific start and I look forward to watching it develop.
Hi Jeanette, Yes, the white definitely made the difference.I'll have to try some other colours(paper) in the future.
Hi Teresa, Thank you. I did do some trial and error on the side of my page, but not nearly enough. Which probably accounts for the gummy look I can end up with. I tend to just keep playing until I get the colour I want.
I have been trying to decide why I am writing a blog. I think I want it to be a type of journal, a catalog of my interests. It's public, so I think that is the reason I went to showing just my art. Now I am thinking if the blog is going to keep my interest it will have to follow my interests. Things like art, cooking, kids, dogs, Jim and his trains and the world around me. Will this be of any interest to others? Maybe sometimes and maybe not. But it, I think, will keep my interest. My blog will be for me and anybody who is interested is welcome to read along. I hope that it will show me in the light that I have always tried to portray, that of some one who is always open to learning new things. To that end I am going to keep Becoming a Renaissance Woman as the title.
