Pay it Forward....

A while ago I got a chance to be part of a pay it forward. Jeanette at Illustrated Life was offering a piece of her art work as a return to receiving a piece of Vivien's art at Paintings Prints and Stuff who will receive a piece of art from Tina at The Cycling Artist and so on.

In the new year Jeanette will be sending me a drawing. I also want to pay it forward so I am going to offer three pieces of my art, to the first three people that ask for it. I will send it through the mail in the New Year. All I ask is that you pay it forward also. Keep the good Karma flowing.

My Book....

While I didn't post anything during November and early December, I was busy. I just had no way to get my pictures up, until I borrowed a camera cable from my Father in Law. One of the things that I did was to make a book about my first year of drawing. I did this with Blurb and their software.

Last night Jim and I went to an Artists Trading Card evening. It was held at Artcite in Windsor. Not many people showed up because of the holidays. Which was a good way to introduce myself into showing my own work. I traded three of my cards with my Cousin George who told me about the trading night. The artists get together on the last Thursday of the month to trade cards.

My Wild Turkey?....

This Turkey has been visiting us for the last couple of months. It just loves the acorns, or something behind my fence. I went looking through the web for wild turkey pictures and names. To my surprise I found out that this Hen(?) is a Bourbon Red, which is an heritage turkey. While I am sure he was hiding from the American Thanksgiving table, I do wonder where he came from??

Christmas Card...

At Let's Make Art we had a card exchange this year. This is the Christmas card I made. I did not know who it was going to until after it was done. It was kind of funny to find out that my horses were to head to Texas!
The photo source that I used was from Click at Morgue Files.
If you want to see the card I received go to Let's Make Art.

A Wish For You...

This month I had a private ATC exchange with one of my friends on Drawspace. We decided to do a theme with three cards. This is the set I did. The cards are Prisma colour pencil on drafting film. If you go to Drawspace you can see the beautiful set I got from Kim.
The photo source for More Family Time was from Imelenchon at Morgue files.
The photo source for Inner Calm was from Poncke at Morgue Files.
The photo source for Child Like Wonder was from Taliesin at Morgue Files.

Halloween at Drawspace....

These are all the wonderful cards that I received from my Fall/Halloween trade at Drawspace. What a group of talented people! The scrapbook in the middle is how I plan to store them. I found out this was easier said than done. All the cards have writing on the back that you want to preserve, so no taping down. I cut little bags that the cards will fit in and this should solve my problem. Although it might not look quite as nice. If you want to see the individual cards follow the link above, it will bring you to my post at DS.

Graphite on film

This was a challenge on drawspace. I tried out using graphite on film to see what I think. I think I am not liking it, although I don't feel that I worked as fine and light as what I would have needed to.

I have been tagged....

I have been tagged by Sue Smith at Ancient Artist. She blogs about developing an art career after 50. When you see her art you will know that her dreams are going to come true.
I am supposed to reveal 7 things about my self and then tag 7 other bloggers. Let's see how I do.
1. I have my Tool and Die papers.
2. I worked as a Machine Repair before I got laid off.
3. I have no sense of timing. So my piano playing may never get past beginner, but that is okay because I love to play anyways.
4. I like figs, despite my husband.
5. I love snow. I secretly wish for mounds of it. When I hear of places getting 7' of snow I wish it had happened here.
6. I love home shows.
7. I want to be a free runner. Never mind that I have no balance and currently do not run!

Now I am supposed to tag seven people.
1. Jan at Pets to Posies, a forum buddy and beautiful artist, maybe this will give her a kick to get going on her blog.
2. Maricello at Cello Centered, a renaissance woman if I ever met one!
3. My brother Mark at Baddawg, my truck driving comedian of a brother.
4. C Merry at TLLT, this is my favorite place to visit! You have to check it out.
I guess I'll leave it at that. If I think of someone else I'll edit later.

Baby girl finished....

I decided on Thursday that I wanted to do a picture for my Goddaughter's birthday. Thursday I drew the line drawing. Thursday night I bought the drafting film that I wanted to do it on. Friday evening I started drawing and at 4:30 Saturday morning I matted and framed! It is ready for her party today.
Sometimes I get a little crazy! Next time I'll have to give myself more notice.
While it is cute and not bad for a first child picture, the rushing does show. My strokes are not nearly smooth enough for that baby skin.
I also found out that drafting film has two different textures to it. I think I prefer the other side, I just didn't have the time to start over. I'll have to experiment with the film and see if I am right.

Baby girl....

This is a preliminary sketch. I am thinking of doing her in coloured pencil on drafting film. This little sweetie has just turned two.
